Common Name: Kallay's Compact Pfitzer Chinese Juniper
A low, flat-topped, spreading evergreen shrub with prickly, green foliage. Male plants produce small, inconspicuous cones resembling catkins that produce pollen. Female plants produce berry-shaped cones that, if pollinated, ripen to a bluish color. Nurseries often do not sell these shrubs with the gender known. Uses in the Landscape: Use as a foundation plant, in the front of shrub borders, or on slopes.
